Target audience

New and experienced headteachers, governors. This course is only applicable to Shropshire County Council schools.

Course content

  • An overview of the performance management framework in schools
  • The responsibility of the governing body for performance management
  • The role of governors responsible for the headteacher's performance review.

Intended outcomes

Course delegates to have a clear understanding of:

  • the legal framework for the operation of performance management in school
  • the legal responsibility for the governing body
  • the headteacher's performance review process, the role of the governors and external advisers
  • how effective performance management contributes to school improvement
  • how performance management review outcomes link with decisions on pay.

The programme will include:
