Perception of crime

Within Shropshire crime levels are low. However it is still important to reduce fear of crime through developing an understanding of local problems and concerns and involving communities in the development of appropriate solutions.

Over the next three years the Safer Shropshire Partnership will:

• take action to keep fear of crime low by working to reduce all crime
• undertake specific actions within communities experiencing higher than average levels of concern over crime
• continue to work closely with local groups and community members to understand local problems
• support work within schools to educate young people about community safety and crime issues
• take advice from local people when developing new initiatives
• make use of publicity campaigns to communicate safety advice
• increase awareness of the work being undertaken by the partnership
• assist Community Support Officers and Parish Officers
• encourage community involvement in local Community Safety Partnerships
