Route 44 is part of the award-winning National Cycle Network. The full route will ultimately run from Shrewsbury to Cinderford and is currently signed from Shrewsbury as far as the Herefordshire border, where the route follows the national byway as far as Leominster; the section of the route which runs through Shropshire is called the Six Castles Cycleway.
Information leaflet
Shropshire Council has produced a leaflet covering the section which passes through Shrewsbury, Bishops Castle, Ludlow and Leominster. Enjoy the beautiful countryside and experience historic castles as you cycle through the peaceful, scenic lanes of south Shropshire.
The leaflet, with a detailed map of the 58 mile route, is available from local tourist information centres. You can also download a copy of the leaflet which is attached to this page.
We encourage you to download an electronic copy where possible as this is the most cost-effective and environmentally sound option. However, if this option is not suitable you can order a hard copy by completing the on-line form by following the link on this page.
