Discover Shropshire by bike
It's great to get out and about on a bike in Shropshire. Discover hundreds of miles of National Cycle Network routes along quiet lanes, explore traffic-free trails along old railways and waterways, follow the cycle rides from historic towns and get muddy on mountain bike tracks in wood and forests.
There are now over 19 free leaflets available to help you find a route in Shropshire.
Cycle touring - National Cycle Network
There are currently five National Cycle Network (NCN) routes which pass through Shropshire: Six Castles Cycleway (NCN route 44), Mercian Way (NCN route 45), NCN route 81 (Lon Cambria), regional route 75 and regional route 31. There are 9 free leaflets available covering these routes. Shorter circular routes - Market towns cycle rides series
There is a series of 10 free leaflets featuring circular rides from market towns across Shropshire. Each leaflet shows 3 to 5 rides of varying lengths and difficulty. Follow the link on this page to find out more or to download these leaflets.
Family cycle guide
Two new family friendly ride leaflets were produced in Spring 2008. The first is a general leaflet about how to get children to start cycling, the second is a family friendly cycle ride from Shrewsbury to Uffington. For more information follow the link from the menu on this page.
An older 48 page booklet detailing everything you need to know about cycling with children including information on buying bike and equipment, riding and safety tips and bike maintenance is also available to download. The guide contains maps and route descriptions for seven circular rides along quiet lanes or traffic-free tracks around Shropshire. Follow the link on this page to download a copy.
