August 2008 - Action Plan for a cycle-friendly Ludlow
The Ludlow Cycling Support Group recently launched their Action Plan at the Ludlow Green Fair (21-25 August 2008). The plan is full of ideas to get people on their bikes for everyday journeys in Ludlow. A copy of the plan and the Ludlow Cycling Manifesto (January 2008) are attached to this page.

August 2008 - Official launch of Six Castles Cycleway
The Six Castles Cycleway will be officially opened on Saturday 20 September 2008 with a cycle ride along the route from Shrewsbury to Croft Castle.
August 2008 - Improvements to cycle and walking routes on Telford Way, Shrewsbury
Bridge repairs and carriageway maintenance work have been scheduled on this road for some time. However, with additional cycling town funding for this year, we didn't want to lose the opportunity to make improvements for pedestrians and cyclists at the same time. Shropshire County Council is therefore proposing to include:

August 2008 - Bridge closure in Shrewsbury
Repairs are due to take place on the Castle Walk footbridge in Shrewsbury between 1 and 12 September 2008; it will be closed between 6pm and 3am during this period.
June 2008 - Tag-along winner announced
Congratulations to Mrs Cheryl Hare from Shrewsbury who is the lucky winner of a brand new tag-along bike after entering our competition at this year's BikeFest which took place on 7 June 2008 at Shrewsbury Sports Village. The bike was kindly donated by Dave Mellor Cycles in Frankwell.
Thanks to everyone who entered the competition and to everyone who came along to the BikeFest and made it such an enjoyable day!
June 2008 - Shrewsbury is to become a cycling town
Shrewsbury is one of 12 towns to become a cycling town. Shrewsbury will receive about £1.8 million from Cycling England to improve cycle routes, training and promotion in Shropshire. Follow the link on this page to find out more.

March 2008 - New Shrewsbury cycle and walking map
A brand new leaflet has just been published. The leaflet contains two detailed maps of all the cycling and walking routes in Shrewsbury plus lots of useful information for cyclists and walkers including the location of cycle parking and cycle shops and ideas for leisure walks. The leaflet will be available in local visitor information centres and libraries from the beginning of April. Alternatively follow the link on this page to download or order your copy.
March 2008 - new National Cycle Network leaflet Route 44 available now!
A new cycling leaflet is now available, the Six Castles Cycleway leaflet covers the challenging 58 mile route along NCN route 44 from Shrewsbury to Leominster via Bishops Castle, Craven Arms and Ludlow. the leaflet is available from local visitor information centres and libraries, alternatively follow the link on this page to download or order your copy.
