Parish Council Scheduled Elections within the Shrewsbury area and Various Other Parish By-Elections
Parish Council Elections were held in various parishes within the Shrewsbury area in June 2009. In total there were 151 parish council seats to be filled. Parish Councils with any unfilled vacancies were able to co-opt new members thereafter. The period of office for those elected and co-opted is for a four year term to 2013. The results of all those elections (most of which were uncontested) are shown in the links below.
No candidates came forward for the vacancy at Sheinton and the Parish Council was asked to co-opt one parish councillor following the election and the poll at Leebotwood was subsquently re-run on 16th July 2009. In addition to the parish councils which were due to have scheduled elections as part of their usual cycle, there were 2 Parish Councils which held by-elections on 4th June 2009 - namely, Wem Rural (Edstaston Ward) and Wem Rural (Wem Ward).
Since that time, there have been a number of Parish By-Elections, and the details of all these are listed below in date order.
Details of any current Parish Council Elections, when appropriate, are listed in the "Related Link" section below.
