Availability of the new Register of Electors
The 2012/2013 Register of Electors has now been published. It is usually published on 1 December each year, but it had to be published earlier in 2012, because of the Police & Crime Commissioner Election, which is being held on 15 November 2012.
The Register is available to view at the Shirehall in Shrewsbury in paper format. You should contact the Electoral Services Team on 0345 678 9015 to make an appointment to view the Register.
Copies of the Full Register for the Ludlow Parliamentary Constituency only can also be viewed in Ludlow and Bridgnorth at the Council's Local Offices. Copies of the Full Register for the North Shropshire Parliamentary Constituency only can also be viewed at Wem and Oswestry at the Council's Local Offices. No advance booking system is in operation at these locations.
Full and Edited Versions of the Register
Two versions of the Register have been published. The full version contains the names of all people who have registered, and the edited version contains only the names of people who have no objection to having their details available in the public domain. The edited register can be purchased by third parties upon request.
No "opt out" markers were printed on the Householder Registration Forms during the 2012/13 Canvass, so electors had to tick the "opt out" box on the form afresh, (or use the appropriate internet/telephone option) if they did not want their names to appear on the Edited Register. Making a choice annually as to whether or not to "opt out", is a new legal requirement.
Registering to vote in the run-up to an Election
To be eligible to vote in any election, your name must appear on the Register of Electors no later than eleven working days before an election, so we must receive a written application, which has been signed by you, no later than that date. Follow the links below if you wish to register.
