Rolling Registration
The new Register of Electors came into effect on 1 December 2011 and will remain in place until the end of November 2012.
If you wish to register because you have changed address, you can register using a "Rolling Registration" Application Form, a copy of which can be printed from the link below.
The timetable for adding new names to the 2012 Register is as follows:-
Forms received on or before 12 December will be added to the Register on 3 January 2012;
Forms received on or before 10 January will be added to the Register on 1 February 2012;
Forms received on or before 8 February will be added to the Register on 1 March 2012;
Forms received on or before 9 March will be added to the Register on 2 April 2012;
Forms received on or before 5 April will be added to the Register on 1 May 2012;
Forms received on or before 10 May will be added to the Register on 1 June 2012;
Forms received on or before 8 June will be added to the Register on 2 July 2012;
Forms received on or before 10 July will be added to the Register on 1 August 2012;
Forms received on or before 10 August will be added to the Register on 3 September 2012.
The Register of Electors will then close after 10 August and the annual canvass will commence at the end of that month.
Registering before an Election
If a national election or local by-election is called, various registration deadlines are put in place. This will allow extra opportunity for anyone who is not yet on the Voters' Roll to become registered, so that they can vote in the appropriate polls. Details of any national deadlines are advertised in the media and on this website.
Other Guidance
Special provisions have been made to allow registration for other types of special category elector - for example:
- those working in the Services
- those living overseas
- those employed as Crown Servants
- those persons with no fixed address
- those wishing to register anonymously
