Maesbury Metals is a workshop based Day service for adults with learning disabilities. Service users are encouraged to learn many skills in Metal and Woodwork.
The woodwork has been set up as part of a micro enterprise and service users are being supported and encouraged to own this venture themselves in the future.
The service users who attend Maesbury are encouraged in the design, buying and stock control of the business.
At present they are making smaller items for the sale at Corner Patch our retail store in Oswestry. Service users have the opportunity to spend time working in the shop and using their retail skills.
Maesbury Metals take orders for larger items such as gates and railing and enjoy going into the community to fit these for clients.
Service users who attend Maesbury Metals also attend college courses and are encouraged to participate activities in the local community.
We work in partnership with:
- Enable
- North Shropshire College
- Taking Part
- Job Centre Plus
- and the general public
At Maesbury Metals we are dedicated in providing people with the skills and confidence to compete in the employment market and associated activities.
All new referrals for day services are taken by the councils First Point Of Contact for adult social care advice on 0345 678 9044. Our advisors will help each individual access the appropriate service as well as identifying if someone is eligible for a service within the council.
