Social Care can suggest practical solutions to improve your quality of life, including making changes to your home to allow you to be more independent or to help your carer assist you.
Adaptations range from simple hand rails to major structural alterations to your home.
Who is eligible for adaptations?
To qualify for adaptations in the home you must have an assessment of your care needs and meet the Social Care eligibility criteria.
How do I request adaptations to my home?
To request adaptations you must first be referred, or refer yourself, to Adult Social Care for an assessment of your needs.
For further information please contact us via the details on this page.
Minor adaptations
You can apply to Adult Social Care for minor adaptations, for example handrails for the bathroom. Eligibility for this service will be subject to a very simple financial assessment.
If the applicant has over £8000 capital then they are not eligible for these services and will need to fund and organise the work themselves. Please note that applicants with more than £8000 capital can still receive an assessment and advice on adaptations from Adult Social Care.
