Procurement opportunities
Delivering the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games will be a major undertaking, requiring a vast range of products and services from many companies and suppliers from across the country. Shropshire Council is keen to maximise business opportunities for Shropshire companies.
Opportunities for Shropshire businesses to tender for the supply of goods and services for London 2012 are published and promoted in the London 2012 website.
Businesses of any size can use the CompeteFor brokeage service as a buyer or supplier of Games-related goods and services. You will first need to register the basic details of your organisation. This will allow you to view opportunities and gain access to Games related business news and events.
Additional support is available from Advantage West Midlands and Business Link West Midlands, who will be organising a series of 2012 workshops around the region (details of these are available through the AWM link).
In addition, AWM produces regular 2012 briefing notes. The July briefing is attached to this page for your information. If you feel you could benefit from these, please complete and submit the attached form so that you will receive the briefings automatically when they are issued.
The other attachment is a case study about a Shropshire company benefiting from the 2012 procurement opportunities.
West Midlands Procurement Hub – Suppliers Corner
This is a new initiative that provides business within the region the opportunity to identify, bid for and win public sector contracts. Suppliers Corner aims at supporting suppliers looking for government opportunities and provides details to all the West Midlands Local Authorities procurement pages as well as links to other organisations and portals that advertise local government tender opportunities.
