Shropshire Council has undertaken a major assessment of the economic conditions of the county in accordance with the Local Economic Development and Construction Act which came into effect in April 2010.
In undertaking this assessment, we worked hand in hand with our Shropshire Business Board and wider business community and held a well attended consultation event in early 2010. The findings of this event have underpinned the assessment, providing a robust evidence base which can be used by the council and other interested parties in the future.
The assessment includes information on:
- Shropshire's geography
- Economic linkages with other areas
- Demographics
- Labour market
- Skills
- Economic Exclusion
- Worklessness
- Business and enterprise
- Shropshire's key business sectors
- Productivity and competitiveness
- Barriers to business growth
- Housing
- Transport
- Infrastructure and utilities
- Natural and historic environment
- Low carbon economy
