Shropshire and Herefordshire Business Enterprise Fund
A grant scheme for individuals wanting to start up a business, and existing businesses wanting to grow and improve performance.
West Midlands Finance
This contains over 550 different sources of funding, covering grant, loan and equity schemes. It is the most comprehensive regional database of financing for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and has a search facility that enables businesses to find the sources of finance most suitable to them.
The Marches Local Enterprise Partnership produced a report that highlighted available access to finance schemes in August 2011. This is attached as a pdf on this page.
Awards Intelligence
This provides a database of corporate awards, along with links to the relevant websites for further information, entry deadlines and awards criteria. Please note that access to some content is open to subscribers only. Shropshire Council in no way endorses this paid-for service.
Green Grants Machine
Provides information on all the latest funding schemes to enable companies to become more environmentally friendly. This is a free service but requires registration.
Fund 101
This initiative is for UK-based entrepreneurs looking to turn an idea into a new business, and for existing small companies wishing to purchase equipment to help take their enterprise to the next level.
The Fund aims to assist those who are looking for relatively small amounts of capital support. Individual grants ranging from £50 to £500 are available.
Farming and land based industries
Natural England
Natural England manages two grant schemes.
Environmental Stewardship is an agri-environment scheme which provides funding to farmers and other land managers in England who deliver effective environmental management on their land.
The Energy Crops Scheme offers grants to farmers in England for the establishment of miscanthus and short rotation coppice.
Forestry Commission
The Forestry Commission runs the English Woodland Grant Scheme supporting projects that create new woodland, or increase public access to woodland.
Rural Development Programme for England
This European fund provides support to land-based businesses, specifically the livestock, food and drink, tourism and environmental technologies sectors. Please follow the link for more information.
