Service level agreement

The Finance Team provides wide-ranging financial support throughout the Children and Young People's Services Directorate by:

• providing a strategic management function in respect of the funding of the service;
• managing and planning the Schools’ and the Children and Young People's Services Directorate Budgets (CYPS),
• including leading on, or contributing to, the development of policy;
• budgeting and accounting for the work of the service, within the corporate framework, including advising and supporting service management and providing statutory and corporate information in respect of the Children and Young People's Services Directorate;
• supporting and advising Governors, headteachers and school staff in respect of the financial planning and management of schools, including the maintenance of school accounts and the provision of insurance schemes for staff sickness, theft and vandalism;
• provision of monthly financial monitoring and detailed payroll and non- payroll transaction reports;
• monitoring overspendings of school and CYPS budgets, and reporting to the Directorate Management Team (DMT) and to Corporate Services;
• the processing of, and accounting for, income transactions.
