If the death occurs at home, you will need to contact your doctor or the ambulance service who will visit your home.
The doctor may issue a ‘Medical Cause of Death Certificate’ or refer the case to the Coroner. If the case is referred to the Coroner, the Coroner will contact the family directly.
The Police may also visit to help you make any necessary arrangements.
Contact the Registrar on 0845 678 9016 to make an appointment to register the death.
You will be issued with a green form by the Registrar, which allows your Funeral Director to make the necessary arrangements.
Any additional certificates required by the family may be purchased by the registrar service.
