What are the hazards?
There are a number of hazards that have affected families in Shropshire. They include:
- fire
- extreme weather
- flooding
- utilities failure
- chemical incidents
- transport collisions
How could this affect you?
Hazards may affect your family in a number of ways. The impact could be caused by a number of emergencies but create the same effects:
- loss of electricity, telephone, water or gas
- short term evacuation from your home
- temporary isolation
- damage to buildings
- injury or death of members of the family
What should you do?
Different emergencies require different responses, the links in the menu provide information on how to deal with common emergencies.
During an emergency, follow instructions given to you by the emergency services. If you are not directly involved, keep away from the scene to enable access for the Emergency Services.
Before an emergency, prepare your family to be safe. Prepare a 'Family Emergency Box' and discuss what actions you would take if an emergency affected you.
