There are 30 species for which a species action plan (or SAP) is currently included in the Shropshire Biodiversity Action Plan (SBAP). You can download each of the current action plans from the publications links on this page.
For updates on current progress on specific actions and targets please check the Biodiversity Reporting System (BARS) web site (see link on this page).
It is often the case that the most effective means of conserving or protecting a species may be through protecting the habitat it requires. Some Shropshire BAP species no longer have Species Action Plans and are instead being included in relevant Habitat Action Plans.
The species action plans for Atlantic salmon, Eurasian otter, lamprey, Freshwater pearl mussel and White clawed crayfish have been replaced by a new habitat action plan for rivers and streams. This can be found by following the link to Shropshire habitat action plans on this page.
The Shropshire Biodiversity Partnership website, Natural Shropshire, contains further information on all Shropshire BAP species links to species distribution maps on the National Biodiversity Network website (the NBN Gateway) and information on the work of the Shropshire Biodiversity Partnership. Although, the work of the Shropshire Biodiversity Partnership is changing the Shropshire BAP is still in use. Please follow the links on this page for further information.
