Crucial Crew 2015 Bridgnorth

25 June 2015 Last updated at 02:14

Last week our Public Protection officers attended Crucial Crew in Bridgnorth. The event was attended by Year Six schoolchildren from local primary schools, and the aim was to introduce a range of topics to the children, and teach them how to stay safe in various situations.

Hand washing and hand hygiene was our theme for this year, facilitated by our ultra violet cabinet. Children had the opportunity to see how well they wash their hands, and information around food poisoning and kitchen hygiene was also given.

We've been part of Crucial Crew for the last 22 years since it was founded.

The children attended different stands put on by different partner organisations and agencies, including West Mercia Police, the Fire Service, Shropshire Youth Association, Western Power, Veolia, the Red Cross and the NHS.

The site was on the Oldbury Wells School playing field, and was set up and maintained by personnel from the Royal Air Force for the week.  Volunteers and members of staff from the attending schools provide invaluable assistance in setting up and running the event too.
