Shropshire Council is encouraging local residents, volunteer groups and businesses to get involved in a community litter pick of Clun next Thursday 11 February 2010.
The council’s local Environmental Maintenance team will also be there to remove any graffiti or fly-posting.
The litter pick will be focussing on Church Street, High Street, Hospital Lane, Newport Street, Castle Street and The Square area in Clun.
If anyone would like to come and help in the litter pick, the council’s team will be at the Bridge Car Park on Newcastle Road at 10am to meet volunteers. The litter pick will be held until approximately 1pm.
David Roberts, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for local environment and economy, said: “I hope people will come along and help remove litter from their local area. Even if people can only spare half an hour it will be worth it, as the more people that help the bigger the impact will be on the area.
“These litter picks have been carried out across the county as part of the national 'big tidy up' campaign. We are committed to improving Shropshire’s environment and these litter picks have been making a real difference across the county.”
Nigel Hartin, Shropshire Councillor for Clun, said: "These events have proved very popular in other areas and I will be there on the day to lend a hand as the local councillor, it will be great for Clun if lots of folk turn up to help out. “
