What is the 'big tidy up' campaign?
We are pleased to be supporting the 'big tidy up' campaign, which is a national initiative that encourages residents, volunteer groups and organisations to take part in community litter picks around the country.
In addition to our regular street cleaning and flytipping removal, our Environmental Maintenance teams will be organising various community litter picks across the county. The more volunteers that get involved, the more litter can be collected!
How can I take part?
For more information on litter picks taking place in your area, please see the links on this page. For litter picks taking place around the country visit the 'big tidy up' link on this page.
I want to organise a community litter pick?
That's great! Our Environmental Maintenance officers are regularly working with volunteer groups and businesses who are carrying out their own litter picks. Please contact our officers on the details on this page to find out how the council can help you.
Please be aware of the following points when organising a litter pick:
- Keep Safe. Litter picking can present dangers. You should consider road safety and the safety of other pedestrians if you are working on a footpath
- Discarded Syringes. If you find a discarded syringe, Do not pick it up, call our Environmental Maintenance teams on 0345 678 9006 to report it.
- Safe disposal of waste. At the end of your litter pick you should dispose of any waste collected by taking it to an appropriate waste facility around the county. Please adhere to any instructions that are given to you by the officers at the waste facility. For further information on where to find your nearest facility please follow the Household recycling centres link on this page.
