Information on VAT registered businesses provides a valuable insight into the make up of the Shropshire economy. The figures are particularly useful in the analysis of small businesses, which is important in a rural county such as Shropshire that is dependent on a high number of small businesses.

The VAT figures, which are published annually, are based on local authority districts and data is also available for counties, regions, Great Britain and the United Kingdom.
