Free School Meals are a statutory benefit. It is the duty of the Children and Young People's Services Directorate to provide a meal for those pupils who are eligible for free school meals.
Schools and some colleges also offer this facility to students who are receiving Income Support and Income Based Job Seekers Allowance in their own right, up to the age of 19 years.
