Title of scheme

Shrewsbury Integrated Transport Package

Description

Public realm enhancements are proposed at Bellstone & Shop Latch, Mardol, Smithfield & Roushill as part of the Shrewsbury Integrated Transport Package (SITP). These enhancements aim to create a pedestrian friendly town centre environment, deter unnecessary cross-town vehicle movements, improve infrastructure for local residents, and enhance the experience for people visiting Shrewsbury.

The improvement schemes include widened and re-paved footways, new and/or improved pedestrian crossing points, and carriageway resurfacing incorporating buff-coloured surface treatment at junction areas and raised tables at Shoplatch, Claremont Street & Roushill. New loading bays are proposed at Bellstone to facilitate deliveries to local residents and businesses. The new parking arrangements are proposed at Mardol and Claremont Street so as to accommodate the widened footway alignments, which will improve pedestrian activity. A new blue badge holders parking bay is also proposed on Claremont Street outside the old Baptist Church.
