Images representing the five outcomes, be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution, achieve economic well-being

The Government has introduced five outcomes for children. These are set out in the document, Every Child Matters:Change for Children (follow the link provided to access this document). The five outcomes are:

  • Be healthy
  • Stay safe
  • Enjoy and achieve
  • Make a positive contribution
  • Achieve economic well-being

Achievement of the five outcomes for all children is believed to be the key to their well-being in childhood and later life. These outcomes are becoming increasingly central to the way services for children and young people are organised, planned and managed.

Schools and governing bodies are working to fulfil responsibilities that relate to the five outcomes. To assist governing bodies in their work a traded administrative support, training and development service is operated by the Local Authority.

For the vast majority of governing bodies, we provide the necessary administrative support to enable meetings to take place, organising the despatch of all paperwork and arranging the attendance of a clerk. We also provide advice on legal and procedural issues through a helpline.
