Course content
This current OfSTED framework contains very explicit criteria against which the governing body is assessed. This course explains these criteria and suggests how governing bodies can provide evidence of their effectiveness.
Intended outcomes
Participants will:
- learn about the current framework for inspection
- evaluate the effectiveness of their governing body in monitoring safeguarding, community cohesion and school performance
- consider the OFSTED criteria for effective governance
- discuss ways in which governing bodies can provide evidence of their own effectiveness

Programme
The programme will include:
- explanation of the nature of an OFSTED inspection
- whole group discussion of the OFSTED criteria
- workshops during which delegates evaluate their effectiveness in fulfilling their statutory responsibilities
- Consideration of the type of questions they may be asked by OFSTED inspectors.
