Shropshire Council owns and manages four sites for gypsy and traveller families around the county at the following locations:

• Cross Houses
• Oswestry
• Prees
• Craven Arms

Between them these 'sites' can accommodate 44 families.

The Gypsy Liaison Service is responsible for the day-to-day management of the sites, including rent collection and charges for electricity. But their role goes further than this and involves a great deal of liaison with other organisations, including:

• medical services
• district and borough councils
• West Mercia Constabulary
• community services
• Department for Work and Pensions
• the general public and media

The Gypsy Liaison Service is also very involved in the new Government Supporting People Initiative.
