Shropshire Council owns and manage four sites for Gypsy and Traveller families around the county at the following locations;
- Cross Houses
- Oswestry
- Prees
- Craven Arms
Between them these 'sites' can accommodate 44 families.
The Gypsy Liaison Service is responsible for the day-to-day management of the sites, including rent collection and charges for electricity. But their role goes further than this and involves a great deal of liaison with other organisations, including:
- medical services
- district and borough councils
- West Mercia Constabulary
- community services
- Department for Work and Pensions
- the general public and media
The Gypsy Liaison Service is also very involved in the new Government Supporting People Initiative.
We can also offer advice regarding illegal encampment on privately owned land.
