Supporting People Commissioning Body

Supporting People

The Supporting People Commissioning Body meets every two months and holds overall responsibility for the implementation and operation of the programme in Shropshire.

The Commissioning Body is made up of senior officers from:

  • Shropshire Council
  • West Mercia Probation
  • Shropshire County Primary Care Trust
  • Service User representative

Its key roles are to:

  • Approve the Supporting People strategy
  • Agree the allocation of Supporting People grant to service providers
  • Monitor the work of the Supporting People Core Strategy Group and the Supporting People Team
  • Establish scrutiny arrangements for the Supporting People process, or ensure that effective scrutiny of decisions takes place

These meetings are only open to members of the Commissioning Body, or by invitation.

Once a year, the Core Strategy Group and Commissioning Body hold a joint Strategy Day to talk about the progress made against the 5 year strategy and to decide what the priorities are for the coming year. This meeting is usually held during the first quarter of the year.

During 2008/09 Supporting People engaged with Dr Foster consultancy to carry out a Needs Analysis and the results were presented at the Supporting People Strategy Review Day during February 2009. The Supporting People Needs Anaylsis has been linked to work being undertaken on the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment for Shropshire. Please note that the Needs Analysis is a large document and may take several minutes to download
