Empty properties are a wasted resource when there is a significant demand for housing. Shropshire Council can offer owners of empty properties advice and financial assistance to bring them back into use as homes.
The Council endeavours to assist owners of empty properties on an informal basis by providing advice on:
- voluntary sale or leasing either privately or to an interested social landlord
- advice about letting and becoming a landlord
- consequences of not maintaining your property
- grant availability to assist in the repair and to improve the energy efficiency of the property
The Council also has the power to take a more formal approach, where informal approaches fail.
