How much can I receive?
The maximum grant that can be paid is £30,000 per application.
The level of the grant award will be decided by a test of financial resources (a means test) which will look at the income and capital of the disabled person and their spouse or partner.
What is the grant available for?
The assistance is available for adaptations to facilitate better access into and around the home, and for essential provisions within it for the disabled applicant and his or her family.
Common adaptations include widening doors, installing ramps, stair lifts and level-access showers.
Shropshire Council's occupational therapist will decide what adaptations are necessary and appropriate.
Are there any conditions?
Yes. Disabled facilities grants will become local land charges and are subject to a condition period of ten years from the certified date.

You must be referred to or refer yourself to our Social Care Team for an assessment of your needs.
