Apply for a waiver for parking on waiting restrictions

What is a waiver?

Under certain circumstances, we may allow vehicles to park on restricted areas of the road (i.e. on single or double yellow lines) for a short period of time. If you would like us to waive restrictions, you will need to apply for permission.

How to apply for a waiver

You can apply for a waiver by:

  • Printing and completing the application form attached to this page and posting it to the relevant divisional office (contact addresses are provided on the form).

Types of waiver

There are three types of waiver you can apply for:

  • To park on single or double yellow lines; these are available free for the first day, and at a cost of £10 per day from then on.
  • If you regularly need a waiver for an appropriate activity in a limited waiting area, a pay and display car park or residents parking bays, then you can apply in advance at a cost of £5 per day or £40 for 10 days. This would be vehicle specific, but could be used at any time across the county.
  • To park outside your own property, you can apply in advance at a cost of £5 per day or £40 for 10 days. This type of waiver is valid for any vehicle displaying the waiver, but is location specific.

Help completing the form

If you need any help in completing the application form, or have any queries about waivers, our customer services team are happy to help. They can be contacted on 0345 678 9006.

You can also find out more about parking and traffic regulations by following the PATROL link. In addition, you can also find out about appealing against traffic penalties through the Traffic Penalty Tribunal. A link to their website is provided on this page.

Data protection statement

Shropshire Council will use the data you provide for the sole purpose of processing your application. Your personal details will be retained for a maximum of three years and will not be passed on to any other parties. If you want to remove your details from our records, please contact the Highways Maintenance team.
