If you would like to erect scaffolding or hoarding on or over a public highway you will need to apply for a licence.
Applications must be made at least four working days (excluding Saturdays) before the date you would like to erect the scaffolding or hoarding. If you need to carry out emergency work sooner, you must contact the co-ordination manager as soon as possible before erecting any scaffolding or hoarding.
Please note that there is a £50 charge for your application. This charge will be increasing to £65 with effect from 1st April 2011.
Select the attachment on this page for full guidelines (including contact details for your local co-ordination manager) and an application form.
Before submitting your application, please check with the council's Planning Department whether or not planning permission is required for the work.
