Application to erect scaffolding or hoarding
If you would like to erect scaffolding or hoarding on or over a public highway, you will need to apply for a licence.
Applications must be made at least four working days (excluding Saturdays) before the date you would like to erect the scaffolding or hoarding. If you need to carry out emergency work sooner, you must contact the divisional surveyor as soon as possible before erecting any scaffolding or hoarding.
Select the attachment on this page for full guidelines (including contact details for your local divisional surveyor) and an application form.
Before submitting your application, please check with your district / borough council's planning department whether or not planning permission is required for the work.
