New Project
Shropshire County Council launched Sharing the best of Shropshire, an interpretation strategy celebrating Shropshire's culture, heritage, landscape and people 2006 - 2011. Writing this document was the last thing on the 'to do' list for the Interpreting Shropshire Project. Following this the Council secured new European funding to launch the Sharing the best of Shropshire project. This picked up where the Interpreting Shropshire Project left off.

The new project is still about helping develop better quality, more confident interpretation. We want the people who visit Shropshire for its historic market towns and beautiful countryside to be inspired by the county's unique culture, nature and history. Sharing the Best of Shropshire is working to achieve this.

About the project
It supports activities that develop the visitors' experience and offers FREE advice and grants to help Shropshire's small businesses tell Shropshire's inspiring stories.

New Grants
The project has grant funding for small commercial and community businesses who want to develop things for visitors to do.

The funding can be used for interpretation and marketing projects aimed at raising awareness of and celebrating Shropshire's unique qualities.

FREE Specialist advice
The project has funds to employ FREE specialist help for small tourism businesses and community enterprises. For example we can pay for 5 days of face to face expert support to write interpretation and audience development plans, develop tourism plans, plan marketing and web development projects and for brainstorming new products and ideas.
