Shropshire Council has been awarded a grant to continue the Beacon theme of 'Early Intervention: Children at Risk'.

The Multi-Agency and Prevention Division and Safer Communities Team of Shropshire Council have received funding to support and to build the capacity of selected authorities to improve services for the early identification and support for children and young people who have witnessed or experienced domestic abuse.

The programme will initially run for one year.

Shropshire Council received a Beacon Award in 2006 for the pioneering work which is being undertaken to safeguard children and young people who are at risk.

In 2007, Shropshire Council and City of York Council received funding to enable early intervention to be more effective by ensuring the involvement of children, young people and their families in service design and development.
