Doorstep sport

'Doorstep sport' clubs have come to Shropshire!

'Doorstep sport' clubs are for young people (aged 14-25 years old) in deprived areas. They offer sport at the right time, for the right price, in the right place and in the right style, providing a vibrant and varied sporting offer to young people in disadvantaged communities, designed to grow their motivation and ability to adopt a sporting habit for life.

The coaches who run the clubs will be special people - skilled in leading sport as well as in supporting young people to make the best of themselves. Coaches will also be local and know the communities they work in. The young volunteers who co-run the clubs will gain new skills and qualifications and grow as they learn to lead.

Shropshire doorstep sport clubs take place at the following:

  • Sundorne Games Hall on Tuesdays from 7pm - 8:30pm (alongside Sundorne Youth Club)
  • Market Drayton Town Park on Thursdays from 6pm - 7pm (by Market Drayton Infants School)

Both sessions are open to young people aged 13 - 19, are free to attend and operate an open-access policy. Registration will be required at your first session.

For more information about the clubs please feel free to contact the Sports Development Team.
