Shropshire Schools Sports and Athletics Association (SSSAA) receive funding each year to help assist the development of pupils gifted in sport. This support is provided by Shropshire Council and Telford & Wrekin Council and supported by the Walker Trust.
Who can qualify for help?
- whose home address is normally in Shropshire
- who is under the age of 19
- who is in or continuing in full-time education in an affiliated school or college in Shropshire can qualify for assistance if they meet either of the SSSAA criteria of excellence, namely that they have achieved national/international status or show exceptional promise/talent
- Current International
- National Squad Members
- Regional Squad
What help is available?
Monetary grants, normally up to a maximum of £500 for each application, can be given to assist with any cost involved with the ongoing development of an individual pupil's gift. For example, these costs could be for the purchase of specialist equipment, specialist training, representation at national/international level, and so on.
How do I apply?
The Pupils Gifted in Sport Scheme is currently under review. During this period, we are unable to accept any applications for funding. We will update the website further following this review.
