Supported employment is part of a range of opportunities for people with disabilities which will result in greater opportunities within socially valued and inclusive work settings.
Supported employment is a means of providing assistance to people with disabilities who need additional support to move towards and into work and open employment. This frequently means helping people with disabilities into voluntary work, training and education and part and full time paid employment. People may use these options as goals in themselves, or it may be that they use them as stepping stones towards an end goal of paid employment.
Successful support into employment means a service that is clearly focused on the individual. It can provide great flexibility and variety of goals and opportunities and assists in the integration of people into open employment settings.
