A team of Employment Officers and Employment Support Workers assist and support people with a learning disability to find appropriate employment opportunities. This ranges from paid employment, work experience placements, permitted work through to voluntary work.
Where it is required, advice and support can be given on training opportunities which will enhance the job prospects of those people who access the service. Support can also be given with job applications, interviews and the effect working may have on a person’s benefits. We have links with other services such as Jobcentre Plus and Workstep which can access additional finances to help people with disabilities into paid employment.
Job Coaches will provide practical support and assistance in the workplace to enable individuals to learn at a pace which is appropriate to them. The staff from Enable maintain links between the individual and the employer and will monitor progress and highlight areas where further assistance or workplace adaption may be required. Training can also be provided in travelling to and from work.
