Individual support with a personal coach
At Enable, we realise that anyone starting voluntary work, learning a new task or wanting to use the bus or train for the first time, sometimes needs extra help to learn at their own pace, build up confidence and get to know new people.
Enable can provide this support through our highly skilled team of Personal Coaches who work alongside a person for as long as the individual requires, ensuring that tasks are undertaken competently and safely, giving guidance and encouragement all the way.
"I enjoy the variety that this job brings" said Ruth a former HR officer. "I particularly like meeting people and seeing them develop in their role".
"No two days are ever the same" agreed Ben, who previously worked within the retail sector. "I also get great satisfaction from helping other people, watching their confidence grow, make new friends and enjoying their job".
Our Personal Coaches come from a variety of different backgrounds and have a wealth of employment experience between them. Dave, who was a fireman for 30 years said "I also worked as a Support Worker helping people with learning disabilities. This really helped me to understand the various problems that people with disabilities have to overcome".
"I remember working with a 55 year old woman who had received her first ever pay cheque!" said Karen whose background is in office management, recruitment and training. "By helping someone get travel trained you can see them go from being very dependent to very independent".
"Despite being in the Merchant Navy and also working as a Technical Officer on passenger ships" said Ian "I have been out of work at one or two stages in my life so I do understand the importance of what we do".
The benefit of choosing Enable is that not only do we have years of experience but we are able to adapt our approach and be very flexible in how we meet a person’s individual needs to achieve a successful outcome.
Former Pub Manager Sally said "The smile on someone’s face says it all! Through the support I’ve given I can see how someone’s confidence can grow and their lives become so much more fulfilling".
