NVQs are qualifications which demonstrate competence at work. The training is mainly on the job and NVQ assessment recognises an individual's performance at work with a nationally recognised qualification. County Training has wide experience in the delivery of NVQ’s and our programmes are fully accredited by national awarding bodies.
Who are they for?
NVQs are available to all ages at any career stage and no previous qualifications are necessary. Entry is dependant on your past experience and current job requirements. NVQs are structured to promote flexibility and choice for individuals.
Structure
An NVQ is comprised of several units which can be tailored to reflect the job that an employee is carrying out and the skills they need to perform. Each unit is made up of a number of national occupational standards that cover all the main aspects of a job.
There are no 'end of unit' tests or exams. Certification is based on evidence of the skills and candidates are required to provide evidence of competence. Evidence may include direct observation, a portfolio of documentary evidence, completion of work-based assignments and testimonies from witnesses.
Time Scale
There is no fixed time scale for completion of an NVQ (although there may be deadlines if you are receiving external funding). This means that training can be tailored towards specific circumstances of employers and candidates.
