Most library services are completely free of charge. It costs nothing to borrow books provided you return them on time.

You can also use computers without charge and have free access to the online reference library.

Hire

Loans are for one week (three weeks for talking books and language courses) or until the next visit for mobile libraries.

DVDs

Standard £1.75. Premium £2.50.

Videos

1 tape £1, two or more tapes £1.50.

Compact Discs

Music CDs £1.

Talking Books and Language Courses

1 or 2 tapes £1, 3 or more tapes or on CD £2. Talking books on mp3 disc or set £2. Children’s talking books may be borrowed free of charge.

Items returned overdue

Adult books 16p per service day (or per service visit if borrowed from a mobile library).
Children’s books no charge.
Other items incur a charge equivalent to the hire fee/period overdue.

Maximum fine is £5 per book, £10 for other items.

An administration charge of £1 will also be made for final posted reminder letters.
Items can be renewed up to three times if not requested, but if already overdue they will be subject to charges to the date of renewal, plus any further hire fees.

Requests

Items in stock, on order, or suitable for ordering for stock: 35p each or free for young people under the age of 19. There is no charge for requesting music CDs.

For items that have to be obtained from other library authorities through the inter-lending scheme, including periodical articles, there is an inclusive request fee of £10. There will be additional charges for photocopied pages supplied.

Replacement charges

There are no charges for replacement library membership tickets.

Items lost while on loan are charged at the current cost of the item, plus binding if applicable, and an administrative charge of £1. For damaged items, the charge is the cost of replacement or repair.

Computer use

Use of the People's Network computers is free of charge.

Printing and photocopying

Black and white 10p per A4 sheet
Colour 40p per A4 sheet
Microfilm copies 50p per A4 sheet

Removable media

Recordable CDs 80p each
Recordable DVDs (where available) £1.40 each

Fax

Transmitting

£1 per A4 sheet which includes the cost of the call within the UK to non-premium numbers to fixed telephones.
For other numbers and for international calls the charge is £2 per A4 sheet.

Receiving

£1 per 10 sheets.

Music and drama sets

Hire

Vocal score sets 60p per copy
Drama sets 60p per copy
Orchestral sets £15 per set
These charges apply to sets obtained from other authorities. There is no charge for the loan of sets from Shropshire Libraries stock.

Music and drama sets returned overdue

£10 charge for any set or part of a set returned to the library overdue. Remember, sets can be issued for an agreed period after the last performance to enable the copies to be collected together.
An administrative charge of £1 will also be made for final posted reminder letters.
