Bishop's Castle Library - your comments

• I consider there is rather too much emphasis on the provision of computer facilities, and not enough emphasis on the provision of books.
• This is a well-run library, with helpful staff. It is possible to order books easily & they are sometimes bought for the library as a result. There is a lively ‘Friends of BC library’ group which organises a number of events for children & adults during the year, including a day outing to a place of interest to library users.
• It is closed on two consecutive days and I would prefer say Tues/Thurs instead of Wed/Thurs. The staff are very active in organising or helping the friends to organise the various events which take place.
• The atmosphere is bright & warm & welcoming.
• The library is excellent & the staff always helpful & knowledgeable. However the opening times are a disappointment and I would suggest that better use of staff time would be made by reducing or abandoning the mobile van service & increasing the time the library is open in Bishop’s Castle.Because of the very rural nature of the area it is impossible to function without a car & the elderly always have alternatives either dial-a-ride or a relative. I see the van parked here & there and there is never any sign of activity where as the days the library is open it is well utilized with lots of children, computer users & other age groups.
• This is an excellent facility & with a little re-arranging of existing resources to offer more opening hours could be even better!
• As the library is opposite the livestock market perhaps it would be helpful if it was open on a Wednesday when the market operates?
• I find it provides a very satisfactory service for the area it covers. More opening hours would be an improvement.
