Shawbury Library is within the village's Parish Hall which was rebuilt and enlarged in 2004. There is a much enhanced range of books, CDs, DVDs and talking books. Four People's Network computers are available for free Internet access.
The library has easy access with automatic doors, hearing loop and accessible counter and shelves. A copy of a leaflet outlining service provided can be downloaded or opened online from the link on this page. You can also find a copy of the community profile for this library, which includes an indication of how well this library is performing. There is a separate page containing a selection of comments made about the library.
Shawbury Library has a new Customer First Point so that enquirers can talk face to face via a webcam with staff at Shropshire Council. There is no need for customers to be able to use a computer, as they just need to touch a button on a television screen and the advisor to whom they are speaking in Shrewsbury will do the rest. People can share documents, complete forms and even have their picture taken for identification badges. This is a pilot project aimed at improving access to information and services in rural communities.
Shawbury Library is managed from Market Drayton Library and is administered within the North Shropshire Library Area.
