Never too young to join the library

Never too young leaflet cover

To join the library is easy - and it's FREE.

It helps to bring something with your name and address on it. You can have a special ticket if you are a:

  • childminder
  • pre-school leader
  • home educator
  • foster carer.

or if someone in the family has additional needs. Please ask for details.

In your family-friendly library you will find:

  • a warm welcome
  • a bright, comfortable children's area with access for buggies and wheelchairs.

To borrow

  • plenty of great books for babies and toddlers
  • children's story and rhyme tapes
  • CDs, videos and DVDs
  • books on parenting and childcare.

To do

  • story and rhyme times and other fun activities
  • computers with free internet access
  • books, music, videos and DVDs for YOU!

To relax

You and your child are very important library customers. There's no charge for items lost or damaged by:

  • under fives
  • looked after children
  • children with additional needs.

You are welcome to feed and change your baby. Noise, tantrums and the need to use the loo are not a problem.

Babies love books - so explore your library to-day!

What one parent said about Bookstart:-
"I thought you were mad when you said I should share books with her, but now it's her favourite thing to do. She's got loads of books!"
