Library charges

Hire charges
DVD video discs may be borrowed for one week. Hire charges are £1.75 for Standard titles and £2.50 for Premium titles.

Video tapes may be borrowed for one week. Hire charges are £1.25 for 1 tape and £2.00 for 2 or more tapes.

Compact discs cost 95p (Standard) and £1.40 (Premium) per one week loan.
Talking Books and Language Courses are loaned for three weeks and cost £1.25 (up to two tapes) and £2.00 for compact discs and larger tape packs. Children's Talking Books may be borrowed free of charge but if they are kept overdue fines will be charged at the children's book rate.

Items returned overdue
There are no charges for borrowing books provided that they are returned by the date due.
Fines are charged on each item kept overdue at the rate of 14p per item per service day for adult books. On Mobile Libraries the charge is 14p per item from the second and subsequent library visit overdue.

Children's books may be returned up to two weeks late without penalty. Thereafter the charge is 2p per service day. On Mobile Libraries the charge for children's books returned late is 14p per item from the second and subsequent library visit overdue.

Other items incur a fine equivalent to the hire fee/period overdue Maximum fine £5.00 per book, £10.00 for other items.

An administrative charge of £1 will also be made for final reminder letters.

Items can be renewed up to three times if not requested, but if already overdue they will be subject to fines to the date of renewal, plus any further hire fees.

Requests
If an item is not immediately available on the shelves staff will be pleased to try to obtain it for you. There is no charge for young people under the age of 19. For individual books, audio-visual items or music and drama sets that are in stock, on order, or suitable for ordering for stock the charge is 35p per item or set. An additional charge of £2.65 will be made for items, including periodical articles, that have to be obtained from other library authorities through the inter-lending scheme.

Replacement charges
There are no charges for replacement library membership tickets.

Items lost whilst on loan are charged at the current cost of the item, plus binding if applicable, and an administrative charge. For damaged items, the charge is the cost of replacement or repair.

Computer use
There is no charge for the use of computers.
Printing costs 10p per A4 sheet, black and white; colour, where available, costs 20p per sheet.
Where writers are provided, recordable CDs are 75p each and recordable DVDs are £1.25 each. Floppy disks are 50p each.

Music and Drama sets
There is no charge for the loan of sets from County Library Service stock. The following charges apply to sets obtained form other library authorities:-
Vocal score sets, 50p per copy.
Drama sets, 50p per copy.
Orchestral sets, £9 per set.

Sets returned overdue
14p per set, or part of set, per service day. Maximum fine £5.00 per set.

An administrative charge of £1 will also be made for all letters sent as reminders. Remember, sets can be issued until two weeks after the performance.

Fax
Transmitting to telephone numbers in the United Kingdom costs £1 per A4 sheet.Transmitting to telephone number abroad costs £1.50 per A4 sheet. Messages received are charged at 50p per 10 sheets.
