Library access out of hours application

Some libraries in Shropshire are located in buildings that have wider community uses and may therefore be open for longer periods than the library is staffed. Wherever possible, arrangements are being made to allow registered library members to access these libraries outside normal opening hours.

A special ticket is required and these can be issued on application, subject to the ticket holder agreeing to the specific terms and conditions of use and paying a refundable deposit (currently £3.00).

If you wish to be apply for a special ticket please complete a form by following the link on this page.

If you would prefer not to submit your request online you may use a printed form, available as a document in PDF format, attached to this page. Please print it out and complete with as much information as possible, then post it to the Shropshire Libraries (see "contact" link for the address) or take it along to the library.

Terms and conditions

A separate special ticket ("access card") will be issued to you. A deposit will be required. This may be refunded at any time if you no longer wish to make use of the out of hours access facility and if you return the access card.

The access card issued to you is for your sole use. You may not allow other people to use it or to accompany you into the library. If other members of your family, or friends, require access they must hold and use separate access cards.

Any books that you wish to borrow when the library is un-staffed must be issued using the self-service terminal in the library, using your access card, before removing them from the library. Audio-visual material (e.g. DVDs, CDs, tapes and videos) may only be borrowed when the library is staffed.

All uses of the access card are automatically recorded and are linked to CCTV surveillance.

If you wilfully misuse the facility you may have your access withdrawn without notice and may forfeit your right to receive a refund of your deposit.

Data protection statement

The Council will hold this information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and will only use it for the purpose of processing your application. It will be retained for a maximum of 3 years from the receipt of this application.
