Library membership PIN

To access some library services you will need a personal identification number (PIN) together with your library membership number. Examples of where a PIN will be required include occasions when you make online requests for books or other items; when looking at details of the items you have on loan or reservations you have placed; when you renew your loans online or by the automatic telephone renewal service; when you use the online reference library and when you access the People's Network computers.

Apply for a PIN
You can ask for your PIN in several ways:

  • In person at a library. Please present your library membership card. You will be asked to confirm your identification and the your PIN can be immediately issued to you.
  • By telephone to any library or the Shropshire Customer Service Centre. Quote the number on your library membership card. Your PIN will be posted to you to the address held on file. PINs are never given out over the phone for security reasons.
  • By e-mail. Please state your full address, with postcode, and your library membership number. If your e-mail address is the same as held for you on the library database your PIN will be e-mailed back to you. For security reasons, if no e-mail address is held on file, or if it is different, your PIN will be sent to you by post.

Change your PIN
Should you wish to change the PIN you have been given (e.g. for one that is more memorable) you can easily do this online. Follow the link on this page to "Library account" and from there to "Borrower information". Enter your library card number and current PIN and your personal details will be shown, including address and library account information. Your current PIN is shown as asterisks, but by the side is a link enabling you to change it.

Forgotten your PIN?
Please apply again using the above procedures and your PIN will be re-issued to you.
