The Hobbs Room at Shrewsbury Library may be booked by individuals and groups for meetings, either private or open to the public, and can accommodate a maximum of 40 people. Access is through a separate door in the entrance archway and may be used when the library is closed. A small kitchen is situated off the room and toilets are in the basement.
An electric urn, electric kettle, cups, saucers and plates are available at no additional charge. Crockery used must be washed, dried and left ready for subsequent use. Equipment that is available by prior arrangement includes a television, a DVD player, a video player, an overhead projector and a flipchart.
The keys to the Hobbs Room must be collected in advance from the library. Evening meetings must end no later than 10.30pm. All lights and plugs should be switched off and doors locked before leaving. Keys should be returned immediately after locking up, either to the counter, if the library is open, or by posting through the letter box. Vehicular access is available immediately in front of the library for loading and unloading only during library opening hours. Otherwise, no parking is available.
Bookings are made on a first come first served basis. The room hire charge is £22.50 per session, being a morning, afternoon or evening. When six sessions are booked and paid for in one transaction, only five sessions will be charged for, i.e. six for the price of five.
The full cost should be paid to the library at the time of booking Cheques should be made payable to Shropshire Council.
Cancellations made less than two weeks before the date may be charged for.
You will need to provide a copy of your own Public Liability Insurance (PLI) documents showing cover up to £5 million. If you do not have your own insurance you may buy into the Council's PLI by paying 12% of the current hire charge including free bookings on the six for the price of five offer.
