The Hobbs Room at Shrewsbury Library may be booked by individuals and groups for meetings, either private or open to the public, and can accommodate a maximum of 40 people. Access is through a separate door in the entrance archway and may be used when the library is closed. A small kitchen is situated off the room and toilets are in the basement.
Equipment
An electric urn, electric kettle, cups, saucers and plates are available at no additional charge. Crockery used must be washed, dried and left ready for subsequent use. Electrical equipment, including lighting, not belonging to Shropshire Council may not be used unless confirmation is received, in advance on an official form, that such equipment has been tested and is safe. Equipment that is available by prior arrangement includes a television, a DVD player, a video player, an overhead projector and a flipchart.
Access
The keys to the Hobbs Room must be collected in advance from the library. Evening meetings are to end no later than 10.30pm. All lights and plugs should be switched off and doors locked before leaving. Keys should be returned immediately after locking up, either to the counter, if the library is open, or by posting through the letter box. Vehicular access is available immediately in front of the library for loading and unloading only during library opening hours. Otherwise, no parking is available.
Booking conditions
Bookings are made on a first come first served basis. The current charge at Shrewsbury Library is £20.00 per session, being a morning, afternoon or evening. When six sessions are booked and paid for in one transaction, only five sessions will be charged for, i.e. six for the price of five. The full cost should be paid to the library at the time of booking, using the form provided. Cheques should be made payable to Shropshire Council.
Cancellations made less than one week before the date may be charged for.
