Room hire at Shrewsbury Library

The Hobbs Room at Shrewsbury Library may be booked by individuals and groups for meetings, either private or open to the public, and can accommodate a maximum of 40 people. Access is through a separate door in the entrance archway and may be used when the library is closed. A small kitchen is situated off the room and toilets are in the basement.

Equipment
An electric urn, electric kettle, cups and saucers are available at no additional charge but any crockery used must be washed, dried and left ready for subsequent use. Electrical equipment, including lighting, not belonging to the County Council may not be used unless confirmation is received in advance, on an official form, that such equipment has been tested and is safe. Equipment that is available by prior arrangement includes a television, a DVD player, a video player, an overhead projector and a flipchart.

Access
The keys to the Hobbs Room must be collected in advance from the Customer Service Point in the Library. Evening meetings are to end no later than 10.30 p.m. All lights and plugs should be switched off and doors locked before leaving. Keys should be returned immediately after locking up in the envelope provided, either to the counter, if the library is open, or by posting through the letterbox. Vehicular access is possible immediately in front of the library for loading and unloading only. Otherwise, no parking is available.

Booking conditions
The current charge at Shrewsbury Library is £16.50 per session, being a morning, afternoon or evening. When 6 sessions are booked and paid for in one transaction, only 5 sessions will be charged for, i.e. 6 for the price of 5. The full cost should be paid to the library at the time of booking, using the form provided. Cheques should be made payable to Shropshire County Council. If paying by post and a receipt is required, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope.
