Getting information from your library

Reference books

Library staff across the county are ready to help you by phone, email or in person:

  • providing facts and information
  • helping you find the information you need
  • helping you find the right website.

Larger libraries have a full range of information resources including:

  • encyclopaedias
  • dictionaries
  • bus and rail timetables
  • maps and street plans
  • newspapers.

Shrewsbury Library has the largest collection of information resources, including

  • reference books on a wide range of subjects
  • largest selection of magazines and newspapers including back copies
  • atlases, maps and street plans
  • telephone directories for the whole country
  • Acts of Parliament and All England law reports
  • access to Experian Corporate Researcher, which provides company profiles including accounts, risk information, names and addresses of directors and company/industry comparisons.

The Reference Library building in Shrewsbury closed in April 2011 and it's services were moved into Shrewsbury Library, so providing an integrated library with lending, reference and information services under one roof.

A range of online reference resources are available to enable you to conduct research from your home computer. Follow the link to the Online Reference Library.

There is also a reference enquiry service called ENQUIRE which is available to everyone and is provided by library staff around the country. Follow the link to Enquire.
