Facilities
Wem Library and Learning Centre is situated in the centre of the market town of Wem and is operated in partnership with Walford and North Shropshire College. For a location map, please follow the link to ShropMap.
The library is staffed for 25.5 hours every week but because of its unique relationship with the college, the library may be used whenever the Learning Centre is open by using a self service facility. Staff can provide details of how to use this system or you can apply online by following the link on this page to "Library access out of hours form".
The Learning Centre is operated by Walford and North Shropshire College and is open during term time from Monday to Friday in the day and from Monday to Thursday in the evening. During holiday periods the centre is open in the day only.
Wem Library is one of seven community libraries in the North Shropshire Library Area and is managed from Whitchurch Library. A leaflet outlining services can be read on-line or downloaded from the link on this page. There is a Citizens Advice kiosk for customers to contact Citizens Advice Shropshire while they are in the library.
Events
A friendly informal reading group is held in the library from September to June on the last Tuesday of each month at 7pm. If you are interested in joining please ask a member of staff for more details.
A popular Bookstart Rhyme time for babies and toddlers is held in the library on the first Thursday of the month at 2pm. Bring your child along, no need to book. Information on the Rhyme time and others in the area can be found in the attachment on this page.
