Whitchurch Library serves the residents of North East Shropshire and the bordering areas of Cheshire and Wales.
For a location map, please follow the link to Shropmap.
The library is named in honour of Randolph Caldecott, the illustrator and author of picture books for children who lived and worked in the town as a young man. Many of his illustrations depict local buildings and landmarks and a collection of his books can be seen in the library.
The friend's group, WhilLF (Whitchurch Library Friends), have supported the library over the last few years, including a generous contribution towards a microfilm reader/printer for the local weekly newspaper, The Whitchurch Herald, which can be viewed on microfilm for the years 1869 - 1950. This was a welcome addition to the library's Local History area.
Six Peoples Network computers are linked to the Internet, with free broadband access. Whitchurch Library is one of seven community libraries in the North Shropshire Library Area and is managed from Oswestry Library. A leaflet outlining services can be read online or downloaded from the link on this page. You can also find a copy of the community profile for this library, which includes an indication of how well this library is performing.
A regular Rhymetime for babies and toddlers under two is held in the library Thursdays at 10 am.
The Pensions Service visits on the last Thursday in the month to answer any queries people may have between 10 am and 12 noon. Please ring to check for dates of the surgeries.
Whitchurch Library has a friendly informal reading group which meets at the library every month at 7.15pm on the third Wednesday. If you are interested in joining please ask at the desk for this month's book choice."
