Six Peoples Network computers are linked to the Internet, with free broadband access. Whitchurch Library is one of seven community libraries in the North Shropshire Library Area and is managed from Oswestry Library. You can also find a copy of the community profile for this library, which includes an indication of how well this library is performing.

Whitchurch has an association with Randolph Caldecott, the illustrator and author of picture books for children, who lived and worked in the town as a young man. Many of his illustrations depict local buildings and landmarks and a collection of his books can be seen in the library.

Events

A popular Rhymetime for babies and toddlers is held in the library Thursdays at 10 am.

A friendly informal reading group meets in the library on the third Wednesday of every month at 7.15pm. If you are interested in joining the group please ask the staff for this month's book choice.

The Pensions Service holds advice sessions on the last Thursday in the month between 10 am and 12 noon. Please ask if you would like more details.

Whitchurch Library Friends (WhilLF) have supported the library over the last few years, including a generous contribution towards a microfilm reader/printer. Staff can provide details of how to join this group.

Books and Butterflies. Wednesday 22 July 2009 at 2.30 in the library. The author Fiona Mountain will be talking about her new book 'Lady of the Butterflies' an historical novel based on the fascinating life of 17th century butterfly collector Eleanor Glanville. Stephen Lewis from Butterfly Conservation will also be on hand, to talk about local work to 'Save our Butterflies'. Tickets for this event are £1.50 available in advance from the library.
