Whitchurch Library serves residents of North East Shropshire and the bordering areas of Cheshire and Wales. For a location map, please follow the link to ShropMap.

The library is home to the Victorian clock that was originally in the Whitchurch and Ellesmere Bank, the workplace of the illustrator Randolph Caldecott who worked there as a young man before he changed careers and found fame in London and the USA.

Whitchurch Library is one of seven community libraries in the North Shropshire Library Area and is managed from Oswestry Library. A leaflet outlining services can be read online or downloaded from the link on this page. You can also find a copy of the community profile for this library, which includes an indication of how well this library is performing.

Events

A popular Bookstart Rhyme time is held in the library on Thursday at 10am for babies and toddlers. Bring your child along, no need to book. Information on these and other Bookstart Rhyme times in the area can been found in the attachment on this page.

Story and activity sessions for children take place in the library from time to time, especially during school holidays. A list of events and activities can be viewed by following the link on this page.

A friendly informal reading group is held in the library on the third Wednesday of the month at 7.15pm. If you are interested in joining the group please ask the staff for a copy of this month's book choice. New members are very welcome.

Whitchurch Library has hosted author visits, benefits surgeries and a Community Directory Roadshow for local societies. For a full list of these and other events taking place in the library, and other libraries in the North Area, please follow the link from this page.
